Our Story

The Crew & The Craft

Get ready to swing into action with our weekly golf leagues at our picturesque 9-hole public golf course in wisconsin! With three sets of tees, a fully stocked golf shop, cozy bar, and a full-length practice range, our facility is designed to offer a complete golfing experience.

The Architects

Lee Johnson & Rita Hong

The high-quality turf and modern 1990s layout golfers love at Sioux Creek are the result of the tireless work of Lee Johnson and Rita Hong. They didn’t just build a golf course; they designed and meticulously maintained a property that sets the standard for 9-hole golf in Wisconsin. We are proud to be the stewards of the beautiful “bones” they left behind.

The Foundation

Bruce, Brad, & Marlo

In 2019, the course reached a critical turning point. To ensure the property remained a community landmark, Bruce Halvorson partnered with Brad and Marlo Stevens to purchase the course. We want to thank Brad and Marlo for their belief in the vision; their support as the original partners was the catalyst that allowed Bruce to begin the work of stabilizing and revitalizing the Creek.

A Natural Evolution

As we head into the 2026 season, the course has never been stronger. With Brad and Marlo ready to pursue new adventures, the transition to the current leadership team was a natural and amicable next step. This evolution has allowed Bruce to bring in a new generation of owners—Tasha, Tyler, and Andy—to lead the course into its most exciting chapter yet.

The Team at the Helm

Today, Sioux Creek is run by a family of local experts who are “all in” on the Chetek community:

Tasha Brandemuehl

Clubhouse & Hospitality

A staple of local hospitality, Tasha is turning the clubhouse into a premier social hub where neighbors gather naturally, whether they’ve played a round or not.

Tyler Slind

Grounds & Technology

Tyler is focused on using modern technology—like our new Yamaha carts with Tagmarshal screens—to keep the course in pristine, award-winning condition.

Andy Slind

Physical Assets & Future Growth

With a background in construction management, Andy ensures the facility runs smoothly while helping us build for the future.

Bruce Halvorson

Vision & Strategy

After seven years of building the “Sioux Creek Model,” Bruce continues to lead the vision, recently expanding our regional “vibe” to our sister course, The Woods at Balsam Lake.
